As the blog may or may not have led you to believe, our Sweet Pea is not the world’s greatest capitalizer on the opportunity for naps. Up until today she just wouldn’t sleep during the day unless someone was holding her, preferably while they were standing upright. This was never the ideal situation, of course, but her parents were pretty indulgent because
a) she’s a cutie
and
b) they like not hearing their daughter scream.
Today, Angus’s paternity leave ended and Pru celebrated by taking a proper nap. Sure it wasn’t in her bed, but was a start. Mother is going to say a few prayers of thanksgiving now.

She is looking good! I’m glad she recovered from the baptism and all is well. Hurray for the nap, you have more patience then I do! Sarah you’re looking great for only being post. a couple months!!! Congrats again, and thanks for the Christmas card.
Thanks, Brenda! Nice to hear from you and, in fact, you’re welcome back any time you want to say something nice about me.
We’re not out of the woods in the nap department – Tuesday was napless but Wednesday is going well. Hopefully, this really will stick. If it doesn’t, you may find the USPS delivering you a baby girl from New York…
Looks as though I could use a nap like that!
Please note that napping has traditionally served the family well as an (often involuntary) adaptive response to the transition from having to deal with Angus, to not having to deal with Angus quite as much.
There is a contingency, furthermore, in whose semiautonomous nervous systems this response has become generalized a applicable to all related attys-at-law.
You guys must hire-a-sibling and go see There Will Be Blood. Um, no obstetrical allusions intended.
Way ahead of you – we rented out Nellie the weekend after Christmas (for free – a bargain at twice the price!) and saw “Blood” back when it was in super-limited release. Sarah keeps saying she’ll do a post about it some time (if only to defend the ending from its various critics) though I remain skeptical it’ll ever get done.
