Ben sniffles for the doctor

He is, as you might be able to tell, under the weather.  Nothing serious (just the sniffles) so don’t worry.  His peer group is certainly jealous of these numbers:

Height: 33 in.  (94th percentile)

Weight:  23 lb. 3 oz. (30th percentile)

Head circumference: 49 cm (93rd percentile)

The worst part?  He uses that head of his as a weapon.  I had a pretty nasty bruise on my temple after a good-night kiss that didn’t quite go as planned.

It may be baseball season, but the only averages we care about here in Dwyeropolis are ones we get at the doctor’s office.  Here’s how Ben stacks up against his peers:

Weight:  20 lb. 4 oz. (43rd percentile)

Length:  29.5 in. (88th percentile)

Head circumference: 47 cm (78th percentile)

He’s a pretty fluent crawler at this point but still resists the urge to try to pull himself to standing.  We’re pretty sure he won’t be walking quite as early as his sister was but since Pru showed no interest at all in crawling, that is probably to be expected.  All that means is that batting practice will probably have to wait until next Spring.  One thing he has on Pru at 9 months:  a tooth!

Long eyelashes don't, apparently, protect against the common cold

Ben and Pru (and at least one of their parents) are sick with the winter cold that just won’t die.  It’s not terrible, but it is annoying enough to keep all of us up and to make sleep hard to catch.  (Let me editorialize here and say, “Boooo!”)

This morning, Ben went to the doctor for his 6-month check-up.  All’s well for our boy besides the cold.  Stats for those keeping score:

Weight:  17 lb. 14 oz. (50th percentile)

Length:  28 in. (91st percentile)

Head circumference :  44.5 cm (75th percentile)

Cheeeeeese!

Pru’s yearly visit to the doctor was this morning and (thankfully) nobody kicked her out. Her check-up was uneventful and revealed nothing aside from the expected measurement progress. Apparently she was upset about the news that she would not be receiving any shots today because while the nurse was preparing Ben for his injections, Pru took one of the needles and pulled out the stopper. Result: fancy vaccine all over the chair! Obviously, being two really agrees with her. *sigh*

Yes, we've been feeding her lots of forbidden things like nuts. She hasn't exploded yet (surprise, surprise).

Pru’s visit to the doctor contained the last set of shots for a while (whew!) and more than the normal amount of wiggling while her measurements were taken. She’s still healthy and growing steadily. Need proof? We’ve got that.
