Ben had his well-baby visit for 12 months this morning. He was a total sweetheart to the nurse and, for the first time, allowed her to get a real, honest-to-God measurement of his head. (He was also a total show-off and stood on the adult scale when it was time to get a weight.) Things look good so far – no allergies or illnesses or weird growths – so you won’t hear us complaining.

Why is the bunny looking at me like that?

Weight: 23 lbs. (50th percentile)
Height: 31.5 in. (89th percentile)
Head circumference: 49 cm (91st percentile)

Head back, eyes squinty

It may be baseball season, but the only averages we care about here in Dwyeropolis are ones we get at the doctor’s office. Here’s how Ben stacks up against his peers:

Weight: 20 lb. 4 oz. (43rd percentile)

Length: 29.5 in. (88th percentile)

Head circumference: 47 cm (78th percentile)

He’s a pretty fluent crawler at this point but still resists the urge to try to pull himself to standing. We’re pretty sure he won’t be walking quite as early as his sister was but since Pru showed no interest at all in crawling, that is probably to be expected. All that means is that batting practice will probably have to wait until next Spring. One thing he has on Pru at 9 months: a tooth!

Long eyelashes don't, apparently, protect against the common cold

Ben and Pru (and at least one of their parents) are sick with the winter cold that just won’t die. It’s not terrible, but it is annoying enough to keep all of us up and to make sleep hard to catch. (Let me editorialize here and say, “Boooo!”)

This morning, Ben went to the doctor for his 6-month check-up. All’s well for our boy besides the cold. Stats for those keeping score:

Weight: 17 lb. 14 oz. (50th percentile)

Length: 28 in. (91st percentile)

Head circumference : 44.5 cm (75th percentile)

A year and a half and still going strong

Yes, we've been feeding her lots of forbidden things like nuts. She hasn't exploded yet (surprise, surprise).

Pru’s visit to the doctor contained the last set of shots for a while (whew!) and more than the normal amount of wiggling while her measurements were taken. She’s still healthy and growing steadily. Need proof? We’ve got that.

Height: 33 in. (85th percentile)
Weight: 24 lbs. (50th percentile)
Head circumference: 48 cm (90th percentile)

If everyone is really lucky, we’ll get around to uploading some more PruTube videos from Aunt Nellie’s graduation this past weekend. Stay tuned (but don’t expect them before this weekend is over).

Pru had a check up this morning. Everything went smoothly aside from the measurement-taking and the vaccination-giving. Fortunately, cookies still work as a ameliorative gesture:

As a gift, we gave Pru a visit to her new pediatrician. We even threw in some vaccinations – for free! We are generous and wonderful parents. The relevant stats (and a picture or two) are below the fold:

One stick for the road

Height: 30.25 inches (96th percentile)
Weight: 22 lb 14 oz (89th percentile)
Head circumference: 46 cm (87th percentile)

Pru spent the whole visit trying to pull the cotton ball out from beneath the bandaid. She succeeded in getting long strands of cotton which she then daintily put into her mouth. Her father was amused; her mother was disgusted. I thought I left those things behind in Texas!

We have arrived in Rensselaer. At the moment we’re just hanging out, waiting for the movers to catch up to us. Cal is very fond of having an almost entirely carpeted living space, though his feelings towards the two flights of stairs are somewhat more mixed (as mine will no doubt be soon, once you-know-who really gets crawling).
