The Second Thanksgiving

The week before Sarah gave birth, in a fit of outrageous overconfidence (I’d call it hubris, were it not so blindingly obvious I’m in a comedy) we started accumulating the elements of a proper (if small) Thanksgiving meal. The idea was that I would make Sarah and I Thanksgiving dinner while she was resting/taking care of the baby and the baby was napping/being taken care of.

One Pru in a tub: The little one took her first bath today. It was just time.

The look on her face in this picture vastly overstates how much she enjoyed this experience.  Still, she’s clean, which isn’t nothing.

It’s Always The Last Place You Look….

So, Pru-bear lost her umbilical cord stump last night. We noticed it was kind of hanging loose during our dinner; later I found it hiding among the folds of her sleeping gown as I was changing her. She’s just got a little scab there now (indisputable visual evidence after the break), which I assume will fall off in a few days, leaving her with a regular navel. She seems very excited, and is getting her gaze all ready already.

Just remember, baby, there’s no going back now – it’s mouth feeding, or nothing.
