…but Texas wants her anyway.
Ready to depart for Pru’s first ever-trip to Texas. It will be a three-way reunion: Sarah’s 10th high school reunion, a Horney family reunion, and my long-awaited reunion with Whataburger.
Are we excited?
Signs point to yes!

Hooray for the triumphant return ( if only for a few days) to Texas!!! The Lone Star State and your friends here are uber excited!!!
See ya’ll on Sunday.
Smile like an acre of sunflower? Check.
Eyes are a bluebonnet blue? Check.
I’ll allow as how Pru’s from Texas (even if not geographically in the strictest sense).
Hope it’s a great trip. Our first big trip with a little one came when our oldest was eight months old, going to Boston for a wedding, then to Washington to see family. When picking up our car in DC, we learned that, despite adding a very small third person to our family, we no longer fit in a compact car, what with the pack-n-play and the car seat and all the baby paraphernalia.
The big excitement came on the way home, during a layover in Chicago, when he pulled up for the first time on a people cart that was parked near our gate.
If you do happen to travel through O’Hare when Pru’s a little older, there’s a very cool aviation-themed playground in one of the terminals. It’s called “Kids on the Fly,” and it’s a project of the Chicago Children’s Museum. It helped us through many long layovers.
